The Sport

A New Sport.
Built For Everyone.

Remember four square? The chalk lines on the blacktop. The bouncing ball. The heated arguments over who was out. Everyone had their rules, their rivalries, their king of the court. Recess ended and you were still thinking about the next game. It wasn't just a game — it was serious.

Now imagine that energy on a bigger scale. A larger court that tests your agility and reflexes. Teams instead of free-for-alls. Co-ed rosters. Players rotating through positions with every elimination. A polished wood court under arena lights. Crowds chanting your team's name. Strategy layered on top of raw athleticism. That's Gridball.

Gridball is a co-ed professional sport played on a 24×24-foot court divided into four quadrants — Prime, Major, Minor, and Entry. Two teams of 14 players go head-to-head, with 2 active on court at a time. Every elimination triggers a rotation: players advance through positions along a fixed path called the Z-Formation. The goal is to climb the grid, hold your position, and score.

Eliminate opponents to earn 1 point. Hold the Major quadrant for 4 consecutive rounds to earn a Grid Hold — 3 points. Dominate Prime for 4 rounds to lock in a Gridlock — 7 points. The longer you hold your ground, the bigger the payoff.

The Court

Four Quadrants. One Grid.

The Grid is a 24×24-foot square divided into four equal quadrants. Each position carries different weight — and different scoring power.

Prime

The top of the grid. Hold Prime for 4 consecutive rounds without being eliminated to score a Gridlock — 7 points. Resets only if you leave Prime.

Major

The second-highest position. Hold Major for 4 rounds without being eliminated to earn a Grid Hold — 3 points. Resets only if you leave Major.

Minor

A transitional position. Players move through Minor on their way up the grid via the Z-Formation rotation.

Entry

The starting point. When a teammate is eliminated, the next player steps onto the grid here. The rotation never stops.

The Story

Born In Miami.
Built For The World.

New World School of the Arts in Miami didn't have a sports program. No football, no basketball, no track. But on the 7th floor dance studio, students found their competition anyway — boxball. Dancers, actors, musicians, and visual artists brought a level of raw athleticism to the court that turned a simple playground game into something electric. Games drew crowds. Rivalries formed. It was the most competitive thing happening in the building.

In 2010, watching that intensity, a question took root: what if this could go pro? What if it was team-based? That idea sat quietly for over a decade — until the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony brought it roaring back. Watching the world's greatest athletes compete, the question returned: what could the next great sport look like? By the closing ceremony, Gridball had taken shape. The NGL was officially founded in 2025.

Now we're building it from the ground up. A sport where men and women compete on the same court, on the same roster, under the same rules. No separate leagues. No asterisks. One game. And it starts here.
